Finding my inner-happy

Take a moment

Take a moment.

Take a moment to read this post.

You might even dare to take a moment to think about it.

Just relax and take a moment.

Because it’s a reality that the world has morphed into a very movie-like story-line with unexpected plot-twists at every turn and social media flooding with more fear and opinions than ever. We all need a break.

All of this has caused people to feel a variety of feelings. That’s understandable, but it’s good to remember to just take a moment.

Pause the roller coaster.
For 1 minute. 10 minutes. 30 minutes. Whatever feels right.

But take a moment…
Breath. One deep breath.
And then do something that makes you smile.

Take a moment…
What brings you joy?

Look at nature.
Listen to a bird chirping.
Look at the moon and the stars.
Maybe you want to watch one episode of your favorite show. Watch it.
Maybe you want to call your mom; it’s been a while. Call her.
Maybe you’ve been meaning to write to an old friend. Do it.
Give yourself a manicure. You deserve it.
Stretch. Ohhhhh stretch. (I do yoga – it has changed my life!)
Make yourself your favorite snack.
Take 4 minutes and listen to your favorite song. Eyes closed. Take it in.
(Or put the song on, pump up the volume, and DANCE in the kitchen!)

Take a moment,
And make yourself smile.
Or even just take a moment to smile. Deep breath and smiiiile.

Why do I recommend moments such as this?

Because each person taking more time to smile could save the world.

We are going through a global crisis.
We are missing family, and worrying about our kids.
We are losing income or jobs for some.
This is a really messed up time, let’s be honest.
And all of this brings negativity, worry, fear, change, adjustment, and all of these outcomes that can come discomfort… so it’s important to step back and take a moment. Take it in. Breath. Don’t react. Don’t post online the first thing that comes to mind with emotions and worry. Don’t jump at the first conclusion of what may or may not happen. Take a moment. Just one…

Step back and realize that YOU are the most important person in your own life, first and foremost, and you are doing your very best. Every day.

Take a moment. Take the time to feel joy.

Really feel it.

If you need a reminder, take a picture of it.

( But don’t be so worried about sharing that picture with the world – we don’t always need to tell others about our joy. It’s our own experience!

Just take a moment.

Life is short.

Not to get dark about it, but realistically, we really do not know when something will happen to ourselves or our loved ones. No one knows. The good people, the bad people, we are all in this together. None of us know. What we do know is that we should make the best of the time that we have… right now. Not next year, or someday, but now. Pause your rollercoaster, all those things you “have” to do that keep you too busy to experience a moment of joy, and take a moment for yourself. Or take a moment to reach out to a loved one or an old friend. If you’re full up on your own joy, you can also help another’s joy!

So, take a moment.

Experience joy. Joy brings health, happiness, and success.

A moment of joy will make you a better human, a better spouse, a better sister, brother, daughter. Each moment of joy multiples into more moments of joy. And all of this can really begin by just taking a moment… and a deep breath. Take a deep breath and smile. Be grateful to be able to do exactly that, in this moment. 🙂 Then go back to your list of things to do. It will feel easier after you enjoyed a moment. That you just took a moment… It will never affect your day negatively to take a moment to experience joy.

I took a moment today.
I wrote this post. I had to write this post.
Now, I am now smiling.
I feel joy.

I took a breath. I took a moment.

And if you think you don’t have any time, time to even take a deep breath, than I highly recommend that you take three. You have totally got this.

You know, I’m not sure if any of this will resonate with you, but I’m glad that in this moment, you took the time to read this post. You paused the roller coaster for some inspiration. I hope I was able to provide this! 🙂

I hope you enjoyed the moment.

And that you feel inspired to take many more.

Be well.

Be safe.

Bad things happen, we all know, but good things can happen too!

Much love.
